Operating microscope's are used for:

• locating hidden canals removing posts;
• assisting in access preparation to avoid unnecessary destruction of tooth structure;
• removing canal obstructions;
• locating cracks and fractures that are not visible to the naked eye; and
• Helping with all aspects of endodontic surgery, particularly in root-end resection and placement of retrofilling material. 

Ultrasonic Instrumentation uses high frequency sound wave to clean the canal system of tissue and bacteria before the filling process.
